Combat Engineer

Average combat capabilities, builds defensive fortifications, can explode buildings with a powder barrel.

Any army requires fortifications and supplementary structures such as bridges, pontoons, etc. Construction of these structures, road paving and digging of entrenchments were included in the duties of combat engineers.

They did not differ essentially from troops in the line infantry except for an obligatory item of equipment - a shovel.

Military engineer was a name given to people involved in construction. Often they took command of units of regular soldiers who were temporarily transferred to engineer regiments and given tools.
